early scene 4 draft

For the next draft sequence of scene 4, I used the razor and selection mouse tool. Manipulating the controls of the timeline so I can hyper focus on the opening to quicken the pace of the shot. In a later draft I may leave an extra 2 seconds to ease the audience into the scene instead of introducing the character instantly. I feel much more satisfied with this version, however, I don’t believe my changes to the shot-reverse-shots were entirely successful. I removed some of the camera shaking in the reverse shots, but in doing so I made some of the shots even more delayed and sometimes too short.  Which is far more jarring and counterproductive, for the response I want from the audience. I had wanted to leave some of the camera shaking in the reverse shots because they’re supposed to be a point of view from the character themselves, so instability in the cinematography would convey to the audience just how unsettled the character feels themselves. Creating an emotional bond between the two, building up to scene 5. Where, had I been able to film it this year, would have left the character dead. Making the film infinitely more impactful.

{In earlier drafts of this scene I had not edited the sound, however, in later drafts I will unlink the sound from the video file and delete it. I had planned to wait until my entire film was completed to remove the audio and choose appropriate music/sound effects, but now these drafts will show my editing process an technique only. Please mute the video. }
